MECHUKA, Nov 9: Legislative Assembly Speaker PD Sona cautioned government officials and called on them to improve attendance.
Addressing a coordination meeting convened by Mechuka ADC Bairo Sorum here on Saturday, Sona, took serious note of the absenteeism by the government officials in the newly created Shi-Yomi district and directed the administration to issue show-cause notices to all the absent officials.
“Absenteeism would no longer be tolerated,” he added.
Also expressing grave concern over the reported law and order issues in the township here, the speaker urged the administration and police to conduct regular night patrolling.
“Since Mechuka valley is major tourist hotspot, the region should be kept neat and clean at all times in order to keep the valley’s reputation intact,” he said.
Sona advised the administration to ensure cleanliness of the township by preventing reckless dumping of garbage and to impose penalty on violators.
Stating that the Pasang Sonam Tso (lake), being one of the important tourist attractions of the valley should be opened for visitors, the speaker urged the administration to take up the matter with the Army and the ITBP.
Presently, tourists are not being allowed to visit the lake for security reasons.
He also assured to post an ADC at Tato and a circle officer at Mechuka for administrative convenience.
