CHANDIGARH, Nov 12: The two-day 4th North East Youth Fest Chandigarh, themed ‘Northeast youth towards nation-building’, concluded here in Punjab on Sunday. The event saw the participation of over 1200 youths from the eight northeastern states.
Earlier, addressing the inaugural function, Chandigarh DIG Om Prakash urged the youths to “have respect for others, mutual tolerance, and keep away from all sorts of crimes.”
Sub-divisional Magistrate Arjun Sharma spoke about the initiative of the administration in creating a special cell for the Northeast with a helpline functioning round the clock.
Chandigarh Don Bosco Navjeevan director, Fr Reji Tom, expressed desire to collaborate with the special cell for the NE, and to “do everything possible to make the facility functional for the benefit of northeasterners.”
Earlier, Itanagar (Arunachal)-based Don Bosco Youth Centre’s director, Fr Cyriac, congratulated the youth leaders from the eight northeastern states, and read out a message from Arunachal Chief Minister Pema Khandu exhorting the young people of the Northeast to adjust well to the environment of the cities they live in.
The two-day socio-cultural and educational event witnessed young talents from all the eight NE states participating and enriching themselves by listening to and interacting with a dozen motivational speakers.
