AALO, Nov 19: The West Siang district administration, the district transport officer (DTO), and members of the All Arunachal Pradesh Public transport Federation (AAPPTF) held a meeting here recently to resolve issues pertaining to the shifting of Tata Sumo taxi counters and establishing a parking area for commercial vehicles in the town.
The meeting was convened following the AAPPTF’s submitting a representation to DC Swetika Sachan, in which it stated that the authority concerned was “forcefully and unjustifiably shifting the counters.”
The federation had earlier been requested by the Tata Sumo Union of West Siang to look into the issue. It had also been decided that the licences of the ticket-selling counters would be renewed.
According to the AAPPTF, the DTO’s office stopped the renewal of the licences by an order on 10 July, until the time the counters are shifted.
It was decided during the meeting that the administration and the DTO’s office would invite the AAPPTF for a discussion on all issues related to transport, commercial vehicles, etc.
Among others, the meeting was attended by DTO Hummo Taipodia and AAPPTF president Dobing Sonam.
