ITANAGAR, Nov 19: The Team Environment Protection Committee (Team EPC), Apatani, in a representation to the chief secretary here on Tuesday sought “vigilance on the public health engineering (PHE) and the water supply (WS) departments in Lower Subansiri district.”
In its representation, the group said the objective of providing potable and adequate drinking water and improving environmental hygiene through sanitation work was “not as per specifications, and below standard.”
“Such kind of improper and negligent construction can create common waterborne diseases which may cause diarrhoea, dysentery, typhoid, cholera, etc,” it said, and sought early intervention from the CS’ office “for health safety of Lower Subansiri inhabitants.”
