ROING, Nov 30: A month-long skill development training programme on ‘bamboo handicrafts for unemployed youths of Lower Dibang Valley district’, organized by NGO AMYAA with support from the NABARD, concluded here on Saturday with the distribution of certificates to the trainees.
Addressing the valedictory function, Assistant Textile & Handicrafts Director Naz Pertin expressed interest in “supporting the trainees in cane furniture handicrafts skill development training,” and said her department is “looking out for committed aspiring artisans who could make maximum use of the training opportunities offered by the department.”
Arunachal Pradesh Rural Bank Branch Manager PB Chetry said the bank would provide loans to sincere artisans who commit themselves to set up bamboo and cane production units, and urged the youths to “prove their worth and develop their skills in handicrafts for sustainable livelihood.”
AMYAA secretary RK Paul Chawang gave assurance of support to the trainees “in connecting with local banks and the textile & handicrafts department.”
