TAWANG, Dec 24: The legal metrology & consumer affairs (LMCA) department, along with traders and consumers, observed the National Consumer Day here on Tuesday.
During the event, which also saw the participation of DSP Thuptan Jambey, various consumer-related issues were discussed with the public and the traders.
LMCA Inspector Kesang Tashi created awareness on the Consumer Protection Act, 1986, and other acts. He informed the people about the consumer forum here, and its role with reference to recent cases and judgments.
The DSP informed about the role and duties of traders as well as consumers. He also explained the various provisions for the protection of consumers under the act, and the penalties thereunder. (DIPRO)
