ITANAGAR, Jan 10: Altogether 180 youths have been selected by the skill development & entrepreneurship (SDE) department to undergo skill development training in ‘retail, IT-ITes and electronics sectors’.
The selected youths will be trained by the Assam Professional Academy (APA), Guwahati, which is an empanelled training provider under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY).
The trainees were selected through the annual ‘skill development sensitization, motivation and trainees selection’ rallies which were held at all the district headquarters of the state.
During a briefing at the Udyog Sadan here on Friday, SDE Director Subu Tabin, Deputy Director PK Das and Assistant Director J Riba briefed the youths on topics like acclimatizing to a new place, food habit, security, etc.
Tabin informed that the youths will undergo training, in both theory and practice, in soft skills like spoken English, communication skills, digital literacy, etc.
“At the end of the training, the candidates will undergo a third-party assessment, to be conducted by an empanelled organisation. Trade certificates will be provided to successful candidates by the concerned sector skill council and the National Skill Development Corporation, and a minimum of 70 percent of the candidates would be provided job/placement,” he said.
He informed that 5095 candidates have been trained in 15 sectors under the PMKVY, and that 1159 are currently working in different parts of the country.
“244 candidates under the Chief Minister’s Yuva Kaushal Yojana are undergoing high-end skill development training at Guwahati and 38 are undergoing employable degree courses at Team Lease Skills University, Vadodara, Gujarat,” he said.
