ITANAGAR, Feb 16: The Arunachal Pradesh Engineering Service Association (APESA) has adopted several resolutions, including pressing its demand (pending with the government) for appointment of two senior most chief engineers against the two vacant posts of secretaries in the engineering secretariats, and early creation of posts of ‘engineer-in-chiefs’ in the engineering departments where there are more than two chief engineers/zones in a single department.
The association adopted the resolutions during a meeting here on 14 February.
In a press release, it said the posts of ‘engineer-in chiefs’ are prevalent in most of states, including the northeastern states of Nagaland, Mizoram and Meghalaya, “for technical convergence from multiple chief engineers in a single department.”
“The engineer-in-chief shall be technical head in the respective department,” it said.
The APESA also urged the government to implement its existing transfer and posting policy “to inculcate work culture, and conduct regular DPC to curtail and ban functional appointment superseding the seniority.”
