ITANAGAR, Feb 17: As a part of making the process of budget preparation a participatory one, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein held the first pre-budget consultative meeting with the Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW), the Arunachal Pradesh Women’s Welfare Society (APWWS), the Arunachal Chamber of Commerce & Industries (ACCI), and community-based organizations (CBO) at the civil secretariat here on Monday.
Chairing the meeting, Mein said efforts are on to involve all the stakeholders in the development process. He welcomed suggestions from the members present to be considered to be incorporated in the state’s 2020-21 budget.
Mein lauded the inputs and suggestions put forward by the representatives of the APSCW, the APWWS, the ACCI and the CBOs of Mishmi and Bugun communities present at the meeting. He said their suggestions would be “widely consulted with the concerned departments/agencies and
will be incorporated in the State Budget 2020-21, if found feasible.”
The DCM said similar pre-budget consultative meetings will be held with other CBOs of the state also.
The members present lauded the initiative of the state government, saying that the Jan Bhagidari scheme has paved the way for the common citizens to be part of the budget process, and terming it “a solid example of transparent and participatory governance.”
They expressed gratitude to the finance minister for incorporating many of their earlier suggestions in the state budget.
Among others, Finance Secretary YW Ringu and Planning & Investment Secretary Himanshu Gupta were present at the meeting.
