AP&BG suspends protest

ITANAGAR, Feb 18: Following a positive response from the state government, the Arunachal Publishers & Broadcasters Guild (AP&BG) has “temporarily” suspended its protest.
In a late evening development on Monday, IPR Secretary Himanshu Gupta in a communiqué invited the guild for a meeting to discuss the various issues confronting the publishers and the broadcasters.
Welcoming the move, the AP&BG thanked the state government for reading the pulse and taking a timely step.
“We look forward for a permanent solution which will alleviate these chronic issues for better coordination and understanding,” the guild said in a statement.
The guild had on Monday announced to launch the first phase of an indefinite protest against what it termed the state government’s lackadaisical attitude towards its pleas.
