KOLORIANG, Mar 13: Kurung Kumey DC Kento Riba and SP Minjom Ete together inaugurated a legal aid clinic in the court complex here on Thursday.
Addressing the function, the member secretary of the Arunachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority (APSLSA) spoke about the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987, under which the state and the district legal services authorities (DLSA) should provide free and competent legal services to the weaker sections of the society.
The SP encouraged the public to “visit the clinic freely and get free legal services,” and explained the Arunachal Pradesh Victim Compensation Scheme, 2011.
The DC thanked the APSLSA and the Kurung Kumey DLSA for establishing the legal aid clinic, and requested the public to avail the benefits of the clinic.
The APSLSA member secretary also briefed the gaon burahs and gaon buris on their roles and functions as provided under the Assam Frontier (Administration of Justice) Regulation, 1945.
Among others, ICDS Deputy Director Dani Yami, CDPO Ringu Kama, representatives of the district APWWS unit, and GBs were present at the function.
Later, an induction programme for paralegal volunteers and legal aid counsels was conducted.
