ROING, Mar 22: Fifty people, including 10 students, who arrived here in Lower Dibang Valley (LDV) district on Sunday had the backs of their hands stamped with ‘home quarantine’ marks upon their arrival.
They were among 128 people screened for Covid-19 symptoms at the entry point to the district on Sunday, informed DMO, Dr R Tatan.
He, however, expressed concern over the people’s movement despite the PM’s clarion call to the country to observe the ‘janta curfew’ on Sunday.
The DMO said there was no need to panic as the people have not shown any symptoms. “They have been advised to self-quarantine as a precaution,” he said.
Reiterating his appeal to the people to stay home and avoid non-essential travel, Dr Tatan urged the locals to be vigilant to ensure that no one sneaks into the district through various entry points other than the main Shantipur check gate.
“People’s participation and cooperation is the need of the hour to successfully tackle this coronavirus,” he said.
The DMO informed that he has directed all the ASHAs to keep constant vigil in their areas of jurisdiction, and to report about persons who have returned to the district from outside the state in the past few days.
All the shops, educational institutions, offices and other businesses remained closed during the ‘janta curfew’ here.
