ZIRO, Mar 27: Agriculture Minister Tage Taki has suggested appointing supervisors in all the villages to identify people with travel histories and inform the nodal officer for Covid-19, in order to ensure that such persons are quarantined and monitored.
He was speaking during a meeting at the DC office here in Lower Subansiri district on Friday to review the district’s preparedness against Covid-19. Besides government officers, representatives of village welfare committees and student organizations participated in it.
The minister provided Rs 2 lakhs for procurement of essential items for the health workers.
Earlier, presenting a brief on the district’s preparedness, DMO, Dr Tage Kano, reiterated the need for physical distancing and home quarantine.
“Home quarantine of people who have come from outside the state is the primary concern. All our preparations will go in vain if we are unable to track and monitor the health conditions of these people,” he said.
He requested the NGOs and village welfare committees to assist the administration and the health department in tracing down such persons, “especially those who arrived in Ziro before the thermal screening at Yazali on 21 March, and in cases requiring special interventions.”
The DMO informed that the entire Ziro plateau has been divided into four zones, with each zone being manned by a magistrate, a doctor and a few health workers.
“These teams are responsible for tracking and monitoring the quarantined people. However, the barricades erected by almost all the villages to prevent trespassing during the lockdown period have prevented our teams from carrying out their duties,” he informed, and requested the village welfare committee members to allow the teams to pass.
The minister directed all concerned to erect “temporary gates with proper signs,” and said “there should not be any restrictions on the movement of medical, administration and police teams.”
He meanwhile appealed to all residents of Ziro to stay at their homes.
Among others, DC Chukhu Takar, SP Hemant Tiwari, and TSD president Hage Tado attended the meeting.
The district’s control room numbers for Covid-19 are 9436047337 and 7630812673. (DIPRO)
