NAMSAI, Apr 5: The Namsai district administration has issued an order for shops to open only on alternate days. Accordingly, the shops in the district will be closed on Monday and open on Tuesday, and so on.
The decision has been taken in view of the public not following the appeal for physical distancing while shopping in the market areas, and shopkeepers not maintaining the prescribed schedule.
In an order he issued on Sunday, DC B Talukdar said “maintaining social distance is pertinent in breaking the chain of spread of Covid-19. It would pose
a serious impact in the district due to the Covid-19 pandemic.”
Pharmacies are exempted from the new schedule.
“Violators of the order shall be liable of prosecution under appropriate provisions of law,” the order read.
