BOMDILA, Apr 16: Various economic and welfare measures of the state and the central governments have been initiated in West Kameng district for the BPL families and needy people, including divyangjans and senior citizens, and for those who have lost their livelihoods because of the lockdown.
Under the supervision of the district administration, the disaster management department has so far extended financial benefits to 534 out of the targeted 1080 families who have lost their livelihoods.
Altogether 709 women account holders have benefitted under the PMJDY, and 662 out of the targeted 2273 families have been provided with LPG cylinders under the Ujjwala Yojana.
So far, 113 out of 658 registered labourers in Bomdila and Bhalukpong have been provided with financial assistance of Rs 4000 each for the months of April and May by the Arunachal Pradesh Building & Other Construction Workers Welfare Board.
While the women & child development department has activated the PFMS process for transferring Rs 1000 each to 375 senior citizens, 250 widows and 100 divyangjans, the agriculture department will extend assistance to the beneficiaries/registered farmers in the district under the PM Kisan Sammaan Yojana.
A total of 8988 families will be provided with pulses and rice under the PMGKA Yojana, with Rs 1000 each as one-time aid, by the food & civil supplies department.
Credible NGOs of the district have been distributing rice and other essential commodities to the distressed and stranded people in various parts of the district. Along with the administration, they have been playing an important role in creating awareness among the people on IEC related to Covid-19. (DIPRO)
