AALO, Apr 17: The residents of West Siang district have put themselves under ‘self-lockdown’ till 3 May in the fight against Covid-19.
Self-lockdown is currently underway not only in the rural areas but also in various colonies and markets of the township.
Entry gates have been erected in most of the colonies and markets, and are being manned round the clock by volunteers on a roster basis. However, there is no restriction on the entry of essential commodities.
It is claimed that the restrictions are helping the administration and the police in containing the movement of people and vehicles during the shutdown.
Meanwhile, 11 persons who recently entered the district from outside have been put under institutional quarantine, DDMO Dorjee Nima and LO Sapbi Yomcha informed.
The district has six designated quarantine facilities for around 200 persons.
A total of 509 migrant labourers have been provided with rations from the NDRF fund and volunteers are on the move to reach out to them.
Hand-washing/sanitization facilities have been made available in all the offices of the forest department by DFO Abhinav Kumar. (DIPRO)
