Tirap DA distributes 3750 facemasks

KHONSA, Apr 17: The Tirap district administration on Friday distributed 3750 facemasks among health workers, police personnel, SBI staffers, shopkeepers, workers, taxi drivers, government employees and the public at different locations in the district.
Locally produced and procured vegetables are also being made available through the local vendors in different villages, at the initiative of the administration.
Free LPG cylinders under the PMUY are being delivered at the doorsteps of the people in 21 villages on ‘rational basis’, while rice under the PMGKAY for the months of April and May has been distributed to more than 53 percent of the BPL families/beneficiaries.
Rice from open markets was also distributed among stranded labourers, people without ration cards, and general ration card holders. Cash deposit of Rs 1000 each has been made to all the PHH and AAY card holders through DBT.
The food & civil supplies department is distributing the items in coordination with the administration and the disaster management department.
The disaster management department on Friday provided essential commodities to 796 daily wage earners.
Earlier, the KBWC provided shelters to 315 daily wages earners, including mutias, shopkeepers and labourers.
DC PN Thungon commended the people of the district for cooperating with the administration during the lockdown.
He advised the people to use masks in public places, stating that masks are one of the best weapons to defeat the coronavirus. He cautioned that not wearing a mask in public places would be treated as violation of the lockdown norms and the violators would be dealt with as per the law. (DIPRO)
