ITANAGAR, Apr 27: The Nyishi Elite Society (NES) has expressed grief over the passing away of former MLA Nido Techi on 25 April after a prolonged illness.
“Techi’s death is a great loss to the Nyishi community in particular and the state as a whole, and has created a huge vacuum in the society,” NES president Bengia Tolum said.
Tolum recalled Techi as being a very active social worker since his early days. “He played a vital role in the initial stage of the Nyishi unity movement, and inspired the younger generation to continue the movement,” Tolum said.
“During his tenure as member of the Pradesh Council and an MLA, Raga constituency witnessed a lot of development in education, road communication and health sectors. As an active social worker, he also made a lot of contribution to uplift the socioeconomic condition of the poor and the downtrodden,” the NES president said.
