ITANAGAR, May 15: The All Arunachal Contractor’s Welfare Association (AACWA) has reiterated its demand for release of the pending bills of the contractors as per the completion and progress of the works.
Stating that only 20 percent of the total project cost has been released to the contractors so far, the association said the contractors, who had already invested all their money in the government projects, have been under huge financial burden as their pending payments have not been released despite repeated pleas.
The association said the government should not make any further delay in releasing the contractors’ pending bills “as the financial position of the state is sound and stable as claimed by the DCM.”
It expressed displeasure over the order issued by the planning and investment commissioner that “release of funds would be considered on case to case basis, depending on the nature of urgency vis-à-vis availability of resource.”
The association alleged, without substantiating it, that the state government misused the central fund under the PMKSSY, “due to which payment to the contractors working under the scheme are not being made.”
It threatened to lodge a complaint with the Centre regarding the alleged fund misuse.
