NAHARLAGUN, Jun 17: The Health & Family Welfare Minister Alo Libang has directed authorities of the Tomo Riba Institute of Health & Medical Sciences (TRIHMS) to establish separate Operation Theatre (OT) for the Covid-19 patients in the Medical College within two days.
The new OT will be exclusively reserved for Covid-19 management and will help to segregate them from other patients. While talking to media persons on Wednesday after visiting the hospital
to oversee infrastructures there, the health minister said that the department took this decision in view of the increasing number of Coronavirus positive patients.
‘The OT is being prepared just in case there is need for it. Even if it is not used for Covid related activities, it will become a permanent asset of TRIHMS and can be used for routine operations in future,’ he said.
TRIHMS Director Dr. Moji Jini informed that at present there are four OTs operational in the hospital.
‘There will be a total 12 OTs once the whole work is completed at TRIHMS. The separate OT for the Covid management will help us to prepare in much better ways,’ he added.
