ITANAGAR, Jul 25: Health Secretary P Parthiban on Saturday exuded hope that the Itanagar capital region (ICR) may not have another lockdown.
Briefing media persons during the daily virtual press interaction, the health secretary said, “We have zeroed down the source of transmission. We are now in comfortable position. Transmission areas are identified. Let’s hope we will not be having another lockdown.”
However, the secretary said it would be the state government’s call after assessing the ground situation.
Parthiban informed that the spread of Covid-19 is mostly among vegetable vendors and businessmen, and said it indicated the possibility of transmission from truck drivers to vendors.
Presenting the figures of door-to-door and ward-wise random testing carried out till 3.30 pm of Saturday, he informed that altogether 2223 people were tested, out of whom 29 tested positive. Among the 29 people, 18 are from Dokum Colony, Naharlagun, three are from Damsite, Naharlagun, two are from Polo Colony, and two are from C Sector, Itanagar.
About 13235 people have been tested in the ICR since 10 July. Out of these, 314 people have tested positive.
Parthiban informed that some of the six truck drivers who tested positive over the last week were sent to the nearest Covid care centre in Assam with the help of the Assam government.
He stated that now army personnel will also be subject to antigen test and they will be part of the state’s protocol.
The health secretary lauded the health workers, doctors, police personnel and all the frontline workers who are working round the clock against the coronavirus for the last four months.
