NAMSAI, 8 Feb: The Namsai Krishi Vigyan Kendra, in collaboration with the department of agriculture in Namsai successfully completed the Seed Village programme during the current rabi season on rapeseed varieties TS-38 and TS-67, here in the district recently.
The demonstration programme under seed village was conducted in farmers’ fields in 55 hectares of land in different villages of Juna-III, Momong, Chongkham, Solungtoo, Lathao, Tengapani, Nampoong, Mimey, Mahadepur, Dharampur and Juna-IV for approximately 85 farmers.
As a part of Seed village programme, the Krishi Vigyan Kendra also organized a capacity-building programme and field day on rapeseed in the villages of Dharampur, Lathao, Juna-III and Nampong. A total of 212 farmers of FPCs and SHGs were present in these programmes.
Subject Matter Specialist (Plant Protection) Dr Madhumita Sonowal Bora informed that the objective of the programme was to demonstrate the use of technology in farmers’ field condition to popularize the latest technologies in farming among the farmers.
KVK Head Dr Debasis Sasmal discussed the objective of the KVK and requested the farmers to utilize the services of the KVK for overall development of their livelihood.
The farmers said that they were satisfied with the rapeseed variety TS-67, which has been newly introduced in Namsai district.
