TAWANG, 30 Mar: A community level skill development training programme under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), which was aimed at imparting skills to the villagers for routine maintenance of drinking water distribution assets, concluded here on Monday with distribution of training completion certificates to all the participants by Tawang DC Sang Phuntsok.
The training, which began on 25 March, was imparted by the skill development & entrepreneurship department, in association with the Zentek Educational & Welfare Society.
Around 59 people from different villages of the district participated in the training. The villagers were trained in the field of plumbing.
The DC also inaugurated a training programme in masonry, under which 30 villagers will be trained for three days.
The DC urged the PHE department to “keep the contact of all the local trained and skilled plumbers, electricians and masons and recommend their names for all the construction and maintenance works. This would enable locals to get employment and good earning.”
To a request made by the trainees, the DC immediately sanctioned Rs 20,000 for purchasing plumbing tool kits for the trained villagers. He appealed to unemployed local youths to enroll in skill development training, “so that the money spent on hiring skilled labourers from outside remains within the local public.” (DIPRO)
