ITANAGAR, 8 Apr: A meeting of the general function committee of Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC) was held here on Thursday to finalize the proposal for construction of a solid waste treatment plant at Karsingsa.
Addressing the meeting, IMC Mayor Tame Phassang said, “with the ever-growing population of Itanagar, the waste generated has increased manifold and hence there is a need for a dedicated waste processing plant for processing the waste generated from Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa towns.’
He asked consultant Shyamal Chatterjee to explain every aspect of the proposed waste treatment plant in detail so that all the corporators and officers of IMC get a clear picture before implementation of the project. He also asked the corporators and IMC officers to give their suggestions regarding better management of waste.
