NAMSAI, 19 Apr: NABARD District Development Manager (Tirap, Longding, Changlang and Namsai) Kamal Roy presented a copy of the potential linked credit plan (PLP) 2021-22 for Namsai district to Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein here on Monday.
Mein lauded the activities initiated by the NABARD to support and nurture farmers-producers organizations in the state, and underscored the need to promote local value-added products as well as handloom products of the districts.
The DCM suggested making the NOSAAP the implementing agency for the mini food processing unit for Khamti lahi rice, vegetable items and spices in Namsai.
Roy briefed the DCM on the PLP, and on the rural mart to be established in Kongmukham to promote local value-added products as well as handloom products. Mein was informed that a rural haat is proposed to be set up in Mahadevpur-II for the NOSAAP by the NABARD.
Roy informed about using untied funds to provide training to SHGs, and about procurement of finished products for the institutions and government departments.
Roy also apprised the DCM of the tribal development fund proposed to be implemented in Namsai.
Other topics discussed included handlooms and potential projects to be implemented by the Tai Khamti Heritage and Literary Society through the MSME. (DCM’s PR Cell)
