Extended curfew period seems stricter

ITANAGAR, 17 May: The extended period of the Covid-19 containment measures, including the curfew in the ICR, seems to be stricter after Monday’s chaos.

ICR DC Talo Potom said no person, except those in essential and emergency services, will be allowed to move in public places without a valid reason.

On Monday, people in large numbers came out and overwhelmed the markets despite issuance of an extension order of the containment measures by the administration for another 14 days.

The DC held a meeting with the IMC corporators, including Mayor Tame Phassang, to discuss measures for successful implementation of the curfew, and also to review the status of the home delivery services of essential commodities.

Potom sought the corporators’ assistance in passing the information on to the residents of their respective wards.

Stating that magistrates and police have been deployed to implement the curfew orders in letter and spirit, he sought the people’s cooperation too.

Potom appealed to the people to stay indoors and avail the home delivery services for essentials.

“The public should not face any inconvenience (due to the curfew) and all assistance should be provided to the home delivery service providers for smooth and hassle-free delivery,” he said.

The DC took suggestions from the corporators.

“Our priority should be to stop the chain of transmission and to work intensively towards it,” Phassang said, and offered the IMC’s cooperation to the district administration. (DIPRO)
