ITANAGAR, 20 May: The health department has started random testing for Covid-19 in the Itanagar capital region (ICR).
Informing this to the media here on Thursday, ICR DMO Dr Mandip Perme said that flying squads consisting of three teams in Itanagar and two in Naharlagun have started testing in the areas from where maximum cases are being reported.
He said the positivity rate continues to remain high in the ICR.
“In the last three days, the positivity rate is 14 percent, and in the last one week it is 16 percent. From 1 April to 19 May, the overall positivity rate of the ICR is 8 percent. So, it is a matter of serious concern as the positivity rate continues to remain high,” said Dr Perme.
He expressed hope that the lockdown would help to bring down the number of cases.
The DMO also informed that 10 contact tracing teams – five each in Itanagar and Naharlagun – have been constituted.
