DCPU rescues 2 children, hands over to family

AALO, 21 May: Acting on a complaint regarding two children, lodged through the child helpline on 16 May, the West Siang District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), led by Child Welfare Committee (CWC) probation officer Mijum Doke, rescued the two children and handed them over to their family in the presence of members of the CWC on 20 May.

Doke requested the citizens of West Siang not to take the law into their hands “as child labour in any form and child trafficking are strictly prohibited by the Indian constitution and child labour laws.”

He requested prospective parents who want to adopt to go through the proper adoption process. “Merely keeping a child without proper process is invalid as per relevant law,” he said. (DIPRO)
