RONO HILLS, 31 May: The faculty members and officials of Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) observed World No Tobacco Day here on Monday by organizing a pledge-taking ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, RGU Vice Chancellor Prof Saket Kushwaha appealed to all to “shun the menace of tobacco.” The VC stated that “tobacco damages the family and society both economically and psychologically, as it involves high risks associated with the use of tobacco.”
“We all need to act as a catalyst in spreading the voice against tobacco and nicotine use,” he said.
Among others, Pro-VC Prof Amitava Mitra, Registrar Dr NT Rikam, Joint Registrar Dr David Pertin, Finance Officer Prof Otem Padung, Controller of Examinations Dr Bijay Raji, various deans of faculties, heads and directors of the departments and institutes attended the programme.
