YUPIA, 15 Jul: Papum Pare Deputy Commissioner Pige Ligu emphasized on preparing proper strategies to fight and reduce tuberculosis (TB) in the district before 2025, and stated that the effort to fight TB should be systematic and result-oriented.
He said this during a meeting of the District Health Society on the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP) here on Thursday to discuss and review the performance of the District TB Forum Committee and the District TB Comorbidity Committee of Papum Pare.
The DC urged all stakeholders to “renew and reactivate TB elimination programme in the district with fresh vigour and provide refresher courses to all ground-level workers, including health and wellness officers of all health facilities.”
He asked them to coordinate with the administrative officers concerned to trace out the number of TB patients in the district upto December-end, in order to compile a comprehensive report to chart out a well-coordinated mitigation plan.
Responding to a plea from Oju Mission chairperson Ratan Anya, the DC directed the DTO to activate the DOT centre at Oju Mission.
Anya stressed on “the need to generate mass awareness among people through door-to-door campaign.”
