Fund sought for restoration of Sirnyup SHP

YINGKIONG, 1 Sep: Jengging ZPM Titok Pangkam has urged the hydropower development department’s chief engineer (E/Z) to provide necessary fund for restoration of the Sirnyup SHP (2×1).

Flashflood triggered incessant rain caused extensive damage to the power station on 27 August, causing acute shortage of electricity in Yingkiong and nearby areas.

The flashflood damaged the diversion weir, intake chamber, desilt tank feeder channel and approximately 60 mtr of the power channel, the ZPM said in his letter to the CE.

He also said that the local residents are helping the department in the restoration works.

The SHP is the major source of electricity in the district headquarters.

On Tuesday, a team of engineers from the departments of hydropower development, power and RWD, accompanied by ZPC Lumgeng Litin, had visited the site to take stock of the extent of the damage to the MHS.
