ITANAGAR, 15 Oct: Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar said that “handholding of young and skilled entrepreneurs is very important while the state is making all-out efforts in its development.”
Chairing a state level bankers’ committee meeting at the civil secretariat here on 12 October, the CS reviewed the financial inclusion initiatives, expansion of banking network and financial literacy, credit disbursement by the banks to MSMEs and SHGs, the PMEGP, etc, and told the bankers present that they have an important role to play in the holistic development of the state.
It was decided in the meeting that the banks will be allotted districts for coordinating with and financing SHGs under the ArSLM. Kumar directed the banks to continue their financial literacy initiatives, with particular emphasis on digital financial literacy, “in every district, covering remote areas.”
The CS also urged the banks to open “outlets” in un-banked rural centres to ensure financial inclusion of the people in the far-flung areas.
Besides bankers, the meeting was attended by Finance Principal Secretary Sharat Chauhan, Finance Secretary YW Ringu and Industry Secretary Hage Tari. (CS’ PR Cell)
