REBO-PERGING, 17 Oct: A ‘green tea accord’ was signed between the NBK’s executive members and the panchayat members, HGBs and village secretaries of Nugon Banggo (Karging Menyang) of Rebo-Perging circle of Siang district on 16 October.
The circle comprises eight villages.
Under the accord, tea planters of the circle will cultivate tea for their own consumption and not buy tea from the market.
The parties also resolved to promote tea cultivation and encourage the villagers to plant more and more tea for self-reliance and self-sustenance.
Onil Taki, who presented the NBK’s ‘green tea accord’, spoke on the economic benefits of tea cultivation, while
resource person Talem Jamoh advised the banggo to ensure that every household starts plantation of tea.
“Homemade tea is organic and good for health but the tea made in big factories is diluted and chemicals are added to make it taste better, which may cause cancer for the human body,” Jamoh claimed. (DIPRO)
