BASAR, 23 Oct: Twenty-six SHG members benefitted from a workshop on ‘Conversion of waste to wealth’, organized here in Leparada district by the West Siang KVK, in collaboration with the ICAR’s state centre here and the Arunachal State Rural Livelihoods Mission, on Saturday.
KVK Head Dr MS Baruah briefed the participants on the possibilities of making valuable products from livestock and poultry waste materials, while plant protection scientist Dr K Suraj Singh spoke about “vermicompost and compost on utilization of spent mushroom subtracts.”
ICAR Arunachal Pradesh Centre Joint Director Dr H Kalita presented a brief on “the wealth from all agricultural waste,” and encouraged the participants to “develop entrepreneurship from vermicompost and compost, value addition of king chilli and become more profitable.”
Home Science ACTO Bharati Saloi spoke about “making wealth through post-harvest processing and value addition, household materials like doormats, cushion from low-cost waste materials,” etc.
Hands-on demonstration of the techniques and methodology of preparing wealth from low-cost household waste materials was also made.
