ITANAGAR, 6 Nov: District legal services authorities (DLSA) across the state organized legal awareness programmes under the pan-India legal awareness and outreach campaign on Saturday, in collaboration with the National Commission for Women.
The Papum Pare, Lohit and Tirap DLSAs organized legal awareness programmes during which topics such as the roles and functions of DLSAs, the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, the Recording of Marriage Act, the Narcotic Drugs & Psychotropic Substances Act, sexual harassment at workplace, the Arunachal Pradesh Victim Compensation Scheme, free legal aid, the POCSO Act, women’s rights, lok adalats, central and state government schemes for children, etc, were covered.
In Lower Subansiri, 242 women, comprising ASHAs and representatives of SHGs, the Apatani Women Association of Ziro, the Arunachal Pradesh Women Welfare Society, Ziro and the one-stop centre, along with staff of St Claret College participated in an awareness programme.
In Tawang, the DLSA organized a door-to-door legal awareness campaign at the Thubten Choeling Balika Vidyalaya in Lhou, the government middle school in Rhyo, and Rhyo village.
In Upper Siang, the DLSA conducted a mobile legal awareness programme at Geku Jomo village.
