TALO, 17 Nov: Home Minister Bamang Felix inspected the under construction administration and academic block of Government Higher Secondary School, Talo here in Lower Subansiri district on 16 November.
The academic block along with the library and teacher quarters of Government Higher Secondary School, Talo was completely burnt down during a fire accident n October, 2018.The alumni and the Talo Literature and Cultural Society (TLCS), considering the difficulties faced by the children of Talo, generated Rs 5 crore through crowd funding to start the construction work. Along with another Rs 2 crore sanctioned by the government (out of the 11 crore allocation for the school), the construction work of the academic block has started on a war footing-manner now.
TLCS general secretary and engineer, Byabang Tugu expressed confidence of completing the construction by February, 2022 coinciding with the Golden Jubilee Nyokum Celebrations of Talo village.
Commending the efforts of the TLCS, Felix said that, “Talo has the distinction of producing the highest number of officers from this region. Such farsightedness and the philanthropic approach by the TLCS will go a long way in changing the educational scenario of this area.”
He advised the school children to work hard, respect and acknowledge the sacrifice and the dedication of the parents and the teachers.
He further assured to facilitate the construction of an auditorium for the school. He also assured to peruse theĀ release of the remaining Rs 9 crores for the school construction works with the government.
DIGP Western Range Kime Aya, Deputy Commissioner Somcha Lowang, SP Harsh Indora, ADC Toko Babu , DDSE Tabia Chobin and members of TLCS accompanied the minister during the inspection. (DIPRO)
