ITANAGAR, 6 Feb: Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC) Mayor Tame Phassang inspected the under-construction solid waste management plant (SWMP) and the proposed site for a garage in Karsingsa, off Naharlagun town, on Sunday.
Phassang said that the IMC is extending full support for timely completion of the project.
“Once completed, the plant will cater to Naharlagun, Doimukh, Banderdewa and adjoining areas,” he said, adding that the effort to keep the towns clean would remain incomplete without a solid waste management plant.
Stating that the National Green Tribunal has questioned the corporation over waste management, the mayor urged the district administration and the forest department to extend all necessary support for early completion of the project.
Phassang further said that a similar project for the Itanagar region has been proposed at Chimpu.
“For smooth and proper maintenance of the IMC vehicles, we have also surveyed a location to construct an IMC garage in Karsingsa,” he said.
During the visit, Phassang was accompanied by IMC corporators and the IMC commissioner.
