KANUBARI, 10 Feb: The Longding battalion of the Assam Rifles (AR), in collaboration with the Wancho Cultural Society (WCS), conducted ‘Wancho indigenous sports competitions’, themed ‘Realize the self’, here in Longding district on Thursday.
A total of 289 participants from 15 villages of Kanubari and Lawnu block participated in zubey (tug-of-war), ro-phak rik (bamboo race), ro-nga (bamboo climbing), and zuphat (high jump) competitions.
Wancho Council president Sompha Wangsa, who attended the programme, commended the AR and the WCS for organizing the competitions.
A large number of villagers witnessed the events.
On the sideline of the competitions, a free medical and dental camp was organized by the AR’s Longding battalion. (DIPRO)
