TEZU, 12 Feb: Attending the 82nd birth anniversary of late Tasaso Yun here in Lohit district on Saturday, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein said that the social life of late Yun would remain an inspiration for all, and a museum will be constructed in his (Yun’s) name, “wherein his artefacts and documents will be preserved.”
“He was a fatherly figure for all the people of erstwhile undivided Lohit district,” Mein said, and gave assurance that “the government will do whatever is appropriate for his memorial.”
“The government secondary school, Wakro is also renamed as Tasaso Yun Memorial Government Secondary School, Wakro,” Mein informed.
Advisor to chief minister Tai Tagak, state BJP president Biyuram Wahge, Lohit district BJP president Badang Tayang, Lohit district BJP secretary Wanlu Talumpai, Tezu block mandal general secretary Biyai Bellai and Ashok Yun also spoke, highlighting the life history of late Tasaso Yun.
Born on 12 February, 1940, late Tasaso Yun represented Arunachal Pradesh and was a founding member of the Jan Sangh since its formation in 1967, and became a lifetime member of the BJP. In 1985 he was elected as the ZPM from Wakro circle and served as ZPM for three terms consecutively.
Apart from his political life, he had dedicated and devoted his life to social and community services. He was one of the founding members of the Arunachal Vikash Parishad, Arun Jyoti and the indigenous faith movement, and worked for the promotion and preservation of the region’s cultural heritage and identity.
Among others, Namsai MLA Chau Zingnu Namchoom, Lekang MLA Jummum Ete Deori and former minister Dr Mohesh Chai were also present.
The 82nd birth anniversary was jointly organized by the BJP units of Lohit and Namsai districts at Tezu on Saturday. (DCM’s PR Cell)
