NAHARLAGUN, 12 Feb: A ‘photo exhibition-cum-awareness programme’ on the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and the importance of Covid-19 vaccination was organized by the Regional Outreach Bureau (ROB), Itanagar at the Abotani Vidya Niketan here in Pachin on Saturday.
The two-day exhibition was inaugurated by DIPR Director Dasher Teshi.
ROB Itanagar Programme Head L Dawa said that “the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is an initiative of the government of India to commemorate 75 years of progressive India.”
Resource person Kamlasan Pegu narrated stories of the unsung heroes from the Northeast, and urged the participants to “remember and respect the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the cause of India.”
Radhe Nanyu sensitized the participants to the importance of Covid-19 vaccination. “Vaccine is the only shield against this deadly Covid-19 virus. The vaccine is 100 percent safe and any eligible beneficiary who is 15 years and above can get it free of cost at any government hospital,” she said.
Arunachal Shiksha Vikas Samiti joint secretary Ashokan KV narrated the story of Matmur Jamoh and Kanaklata Baruah, and requested the participants to visit the war memorials of these unsung heroes.
Teshi in his address informed that his department has also conducted programmes on the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav in many places of the state, “including Dipa village, where the national flag of our nation was hoisted for the first time by one of the unsung heroes of Arunachal Pradesh, Moji Riba.”
He urged the participants to “cherish the hard-earned freedom by contributing towards nation-building.”
Prior to the two-day photo exhibition, pre-publicity activities like essay writing and drawing competitions, and distribution of masks and publicity materials were conducted by the ROB.
Attractive prizes were awarded to the winners.
