DTFI reviews immunization status, stresses on mental health support

ROING, 24 Feb: The status of the health & wellness centres was discussed during a District Task Force on Immunization (DTFI) meeting held at the district hospital here in Lower Dibang Valley on Thursday.

The house reviewed the full immunization status of the district, Covid-19 vaccination for those in the 18+ and the 15-18 years age groups, performance of the health & wellness centres, programmes under the NVBDCP, the CMAAY, the PMJAY, etc.

MLA Mutchu Mithi spoke on the need to look after the mental health of terminally ill patients and to provide them with counselling to support them in their difficult days. He advised all to create awareness, and advocated information dissemination through social media platforms.

Mithi also advised the medical fraternity to “provide services of minor operation procedures that could be done in the district itself, which would do away with the hassle of people travelling to other districts and outside the state and benefit the public.”

Commending the healthcare workers for their diligent work during the Covid-19 pandemic, Mithi thanked them for their selfless and dedicated work.

Deputy Commissioner Soumya Saurabh spoke about the importance of caring for the mental health of the public, and the “need and scope for increased institutional delivery in the district.”

She also mooted the idea of conducting a house-to-house booster Covid-19 vaccination drive for the elderly and the infirm. The DC advised all to double their energy and efficiency to reach out to maximum number of people and improve the healthcare scenario in the district.
