DAPORIJO, 25 Feb: The Tagin Cultural Society (TCS) has said that it has resolved to implement uniform Tagin customary marriage law for all members of the community.

The decision was taken by the society after conducting a series of social awareness programme in Nacho, Siyum and Taliha in Upper Subansiri district from 21 to 24 February.

During the meetings, the TCS emphasized the need to codify the Tagin customary marriage law and eradicate various prevailing social evils like drug abuse and wildlife poaching.

“Various measures will be implemented to protect the wildlife and stern action will be initiated against wildlife poachers,” the TCS said.

TCS president Larji Rigia asked the GBs to refrain from collecting security money from the public during local kebangs.

Rigia said he has received complaints from the public that the parties have to deposit a huge amount to the GB as security money prior to hearing of cases, and that the deposited amounts are never returned to the parties even after the cases are solved.
