The Arunachal cricket team’s historic defeat of Bihar in a Ranji Trophy cricket tournament match will be remembered for a long time. Arunachal, which made entry into the Ranji Trophy tournament in 2018, defeated a seasoned team like Bihar. Unlike Bihar, which had many professional players, majority of the players from Arunachal are amateurs. They all work in different fields to earn a livelihood and play cricket purely for passion. Bihar has many big cricket stadiums, whereas to date Arunachal Pradesh does not have a proper cricket stadium.
Even cricket academies are coming up now only. The coaching standard and facilities are also much better in Bihar. Despite all of this, team Arunachal managed to win a super match. The passion and hunger to win exhibited by the Arunachali cricketers deserve appreciation. However, they should take inspiration from the victory and take the team forward, using the victory over Bihar as a ladder. The cricket authorities on their part should make an effort to improve the facilities in the state. Emphasis should be laid on cricket academies and bringing in quality coaches. Also, there is a need for constructing a good cricket stadium with the support of the BCCI. For now, let us rejoice in the sweet victory over Bihar.
