INC should look beyond the Gandhis

The BJP juggernaut continues to march ahead in India. Out of the five states which went for elections, the saffron party has won in four. The victory in UP under the leadership of UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is the most noticeable one. Despite all the flak the party received for poor Covid management, protest by farmers, anti-minority rhetoric, etc, the BJP has won a massive victory. Hindutva politics has won over the masses. For opposition parties, especially the Congress, this was another forgettable election. The party lost Punjab to the AAP and failed to win in states like Goa and Uttarakhand where it was expected to win.
In UP the Congress has failed very badly. There is no time for the Congress to introspect. The party needs to act quickly and take urgent steps if it wishes to continue to be a strong entity. The Gandhis have lost their charm and it is time the Congress looked beyond them. The Aam Aadmi Party, which is ruling Delhi and has won Punjab, is ready to replace the Congress as an alternative at the national level. Its victory in Punjab can have a massive impact across the country. With a fragmented opposition, the BJP is expected to easily win the 2024 election based on today’s results. Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, and Yogi Adityanath are emerging as a formidable trio.
