ITANAGAR, 13 Mar: A meeting in connection with the ongoing construction of the 132 kv transmission line from Hollongi to Chimpu was convened here on Sunday.
During the meeting, Powergrid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) Executive Director BS Jha informed that the project is to be completed in a time-bound manner. He said that the project is of utmost importance as it would also provide power supply to the greenfield airport in Hollongi once it is functional.
MLAs Techi Kaso and Tana Hali Tara asked the implementing agency and the public to cooperate with each other for early completion of the project, which they said is for the benefit of the people of the state.
Representatives of the Hollongi-Chimpu Land Affected Forum, while placing their grievances, said that some of the foundations being laid for the transmission line are close to their homes, and requested for alternative locations, for which, they said, they are willing to provide other suitable areas in order to prevent any loss of life and properties in the future.
Later, Papum Pare DC Minga Sherpa asked the PGCIL to look into the matter of shifting the foundations which are close to homes to other suitable places.
He also asked the PGCIL and the affected landowners to come to a meaningful settlement for the overall development and early completion of the project.
The meeting was also attended by ICR DC Talo Potom, ICR SP Jimmy Chiram, Papum Pare SP Nyelam Nega, PGCIL officials, ZPMs Tem Pika and Taro Tagia, Balijan ADC Tasso Gambo, Banderdewa DFO Chukhu Loma, and others. (DIPRO)
