NAMSAI, 6 May: The Namsai Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) organised a two-day demonstration and training programme on natural farming at Mengkang Khamti, Lekang Khamti and Wagun-I villages in Namsai district from 5-6 May.
The KVK has distributed six quintals of Swarna Sub-I, Gitesh, and Luit rice in the district, and provided 70 bio-pesticides to 70 farmers and farmwomen in the NICRA village under the NICRA project.
During the programme, plant protection scientist Dr Madhumita Sonowal Bora explained natural farming and organic farming, and demonstrated how to prepare panchagavya, matka khad and cow dung water “for increasing the micobial control of soil and insect pest control.”
Animal science specialist Dr Binod Dutta Borah gave information about vaccination of piggery and poultry, and demonstrated it by administering vaccines to piglets.
Nang Nancy Munglung and Mater Chiram from the KVK discussed “processing of meat product of pig.”
Wagun-I GPC Sengkhong Maio also spoke.
