JONAI, 12 May: Around 100 senior secondary and college students from different institutes here, bordering Arunachal’s East Siang district, are participating in a five-day career counselling programme on ‘military and other armed force services’, which got underway at the Murkongselek College here on Tuesday.
The programme is being organised by the Jonai subdivision administration of Assam, in association with the 28th Punjab Battalion of the Indian Army based in Rayang in Arunachal.
Jonai SDO Pradeep Kr Divedi, who inaugurated the programme, advised the students to build their careers in the Indian armed forces and serve with a sense of patriotism.
The career counselling course includes employment opportunities in military services with reference to combined defence service, the National Defence Academy, the NCC, and the territorial army, besides veterinary and engineering services, in the Indian armed forces.
The army officers also informed the participants about the service duration, recruitment procedures, age limit, and eligibility criteria for each of the Indian armed force services in terms of technical and non-technical entries.
The programme will conclude on 14 May.
