Arunachal to lift inter-dist check gates

ITANAGAR, 10 Jun: Director General of Police (in-charge) Chukhu Apa informed that a decision has been taken to lift the inter-district check gates and police pickets for the convenience of the people of the state.

Briefing the media here on Friday, Apa, however, clarified that, in case there is any input regarding movement of antisocial elements, the police will reactivate the check gates.

He informed that more than 20 check gates are being removed all over Arunachal Pradesh.

On the issue of alleged corrupt practices at the interstate and inter-district check gates, the DGP said that corruption at the check gates will not be tolerated.

“If people with evidence come forward, strong action will be taken against such police officials,” he said.

Apa further said that the state police are committed to ensure the safety and security of the people of the state.

“State police have good coordination with civil administration and the people of the state. Our motto and that of civil administration is the same, which is to serve the people,” he said.
