ZIRO, 25 Jun: The Lower Subansiri anti-narcotics task force met here on Friday to chalk out a roadmap of activities to be undertaken by the task force to contain the drug menace in the district.
Deputy Commissioner Bamin Nime, who chaired the meeting, suggested including the district agriculture officer, the district horticulture officer, and members of selected CBOs and NGOs as members of the task force “as their contribution and role in optimal mitigation of the addiction problem is inevitable.”
The members of the task force discussed mechanisms to improve exchange of intelligence about the trends of drug trafficking, and to intensify monitoring of illicit cultivation of cannabis in the district.
It was also decided to intensify IEC activities on issues related to drug abuse, and to strictly monitor the progress of investigation.
Among others, DMO Dr Tage Kanno, DSP Tasi Darang, CDPO Kago Maya, Tax & Excise Superintendent Takhe Rinyo, and representatives of the forest department attended the meeting. (DIPRO)
