NAHARLAGUN, 2 Jul: The Bengia Welfare Society (BWS) felicitated two meritorious sportspersons of the state – Bengia Tani and Bengia Lalu – in a function held here on Saturday.
Lifter Tani has won several medals and trophies in weightlifting. He had won a gold medal in the recently held Khelo India Youth Games, 2022.
Lalu won a gold medal in the United Muay Thai Association of India’s (UMAI) National Muay Thai Championship, 2022.
BWS chairman Bengia Taniang said that “our youths have vast potentials in all fields and can achieve success in any discipline.”
Taniang said that, apart from proper guidance, support and training, these talented sportspersons need sponsors. He appealed to community-based organisations and NGOs to come forward and help them.
BWS secretary Bengia Kagung, advocate Bengia Arun, Amit Bengia, Bengia Sinia, Bai Bengia, Arunachal Pradesh Weightlifting Association vice president Daniel Teli, coach Yukar Sibi, and Yamtar Taipodia also spoke.
